Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Boone Co. JOSIAH G. FURNISH, M. D., was born October 27, 1853, in New Liberty, Owen Co., Ky., and is the only son of Absalom and Sarah (Gale) Furnish, natives of Gallatin County and Lexington, Ky. Absalom Furnish, after his removal from Gallatin to Owen County, was engaged in mercantile business at New Liberty until his death in 1857. Josiah G. Furnish received a collegiate education at Harrisburg, and studied medicine under Dr. W. H. Blanton, at Union, Boone County. He was graduated from the Ohio Medical College in 1877, and in 1887 attended lectures at Bellevue, N. Y. He began practice at Union, Boone County, in 1877, and in 1880 moved to Burlington.
