Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Boone Co. BENJAMIN A. DULANEY was born in Boone County, Ky., near Florence, September 15, 1842. He was the fifth of eight children born to Benjamin and Louisa V. (Graves) Dulaney, both of whom were born in Madison County. Benjamin was a son of Elijah Dulaney, a native of Madison County, Va., he moved with his family to Kentucky in about the year 1798, and settled in what is now Boone County, where he lived and died. Louisa V. Graves was a daughter of Bartlett and Virginia Graves, both of whom were natives of Madison County, Va., but moved to Kentucky in the latter part of the eighteenth century. Benjamin Dulaney was brought up on the farm, and received a common school education. He followed farming in Boone County all his life. B. A. Dulaney was raised on the farm, and received his literary education principally at Covington. He followed farming until about 1861, when he commenced the study of medicine with Dr. J. J. Dulaney (his brother), of Florence, and in 1872 he entered the Ohio Medical College, and attended one course of lectures. He then attended the Cincinnati College of Medicine and Surgery, and graduated in medicine from that institution in 1875. He then located at Florence, and has been constantly engaged in the practice of his profession. December 4, 1866, he was married to Emma Fish, a daughter of Thomas S. and Nancy (Poor) Fish, of Boone County. To this union eight children have born--four daughters and four sons--viz: Nannie L., Malcolm, Benjamin A., Jr., Florence, Ruey E., John J., Mary F. and Annie, three of whom are dead: Nannie L., John J. and Mary F.
