Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Boone Co. FOWLER CONNELLY, a prominent merchant of Walton, Ky., was born in Kenton County, Ky., September 17, 1830, and was the fourth of a family of seven children born to Arch and Rosa (McColum) Connelly, natives of Kenton County, Ky. Arch Connelly, a farmer by occupation, died in April, 1875, and his wife in May, 1861. Fowler Connelly was reared on a farm, and received a common-school education in Kenton County. He began his life as a very poor boy, and by his industry and economy now owns a large store and a house and lot in Walton. Early in life he learned the carpenter's trade, which he followed until 1883, and at that time engaged in his present business. He married Miss Mary Mefford, a daughter of William and Sarah (Keller) Mefford, and to this union four children have been born, of whom three are living: Edward Madison, James and Esther A.
