Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Boone Co. J. M. CLARKSON was born in Boone County, Ky., in 1828, and is a son of A. E. and Mary E. (Trabue) Clarkson, natives, respectively, of Bourbon and Woodford Counties, Ky. The paternal grandfather of our subject was Julius Clarkson, who was a farmer, as was also A. E. Clarkson. J. M. Clarkson was educated at the common schools, and in 1850 engaged in the stove and tinware business in Covington, Ky. In 1866 he married Mildred M. Hume, of Grant County, daughter of Col. Joel B. Hume and Mary K. (Hobdy) Hume, of Pendleton County. One child has blessed their union: Mary May. Mr. Clarkson is a member of the I. O. O. F., No. 24, of Covington, and is a Democrat in politics.
