Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Boone Co. GEORGE W. BAKER was born in Boone County, Ky., November 25, 1832. His father was Stewart Baker, and his mother was Elizabeth (Moore) Baker. Stewart Baker was born in Montgomery County, Ky., and his wife Elizabeth Moore, was born in Rockbridge County, Va. They had born to them eight children: George W., James M., William H., Sallie A., Edwin H., Lucy E., Mary J. and Zachariah T. Of these eight James M. and Sallie A. are dead. George W. Baker settled where he now resides in Boone County, Ky., in 1873, and has 400 acres of land. He has for several years been dealing in tobacco, in addition to farming. October 17, 1856, he married Mary E. Miller, a daughter of John J. and Maria (Glore) Miller, of Boone County. To this union have been born three children: James M., William L. H. and Stewart M. Politically Mr. Baker is a Republican, and in June 1887, was nominated by that part for representative of Boone County.
