Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Barren County. CHARLES C. FRANK was born March 2, 1837, in Glasgow, Barren Co., Ky., where he grew to manhood. At the age of twenty-one years he removed to his present home on the waters of Glover's Creek, Barren Co., Ky. His father, John Frank, was born in the city of Lexington, Ky., April 8, 1801. He was a blacksmith by trade, and was for a time city marshal of Glasgow. He was a son of Peter Frank, who was born in Virginia, and whose parents emigrated from Germany. John Frank married Julit H., daughter of Samuel Fowler, of Glasgow. She was born in 1812. From their union sprang nine children, of whom Charles C. is the third. December 9, 1859, Charles C. married Melvina J., daughter of Moses and Roseann (Denham) Norvell. To them have been born John T., Moses N., Mary E., Julit A., Willie, Henrietta, Susan and Nora. Mr. Frank started in life without assistance, but has always provided a comfortable competency for himself and family. He began life for himself as a cabinet-maker, and afterward commenced carpentering, in which he has engaged for about eighteen years, and in connection with which he has for a portion of his time been engaged in farming. He has also served as constable in his district. Mr. Frank is not at present a member of any church orgnaization. Politically he is a Democrat.
