The Times of Long Ago, Barren County, Kentucky. By Franklin Gorin. John P. Morton & Company Incorporated, 1929. Published originally in the Glasgow Weekly Times, 1870's. p. 70. About 1812, a Swiss, formerly of France, a Huguenot, by the name of BUCHETTI, planted a vineyard of eight acres, eight or nine miles from Glasgow to the left of the Columbia Road, in the Barrens. The vines grew well and wine and vinegar were made. The grapes were of an excellent quality and the yield great. The native grape, particularly the fox grape, was cultivated with success. Buchetti was a single and poor man; he sold to another Swiss, who sold to Col. Jas. Hicks who knew nothing about the grape culture or wine making. From inattention and neglect he soon let it be destroyed. Buchetti Hicks = France http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/barren/buchetti.txt
