In 1868 he came to Barren County, where he has since been engaged in farming and dealing in tobacco. He was united in marriage, October 18, 1864, with Mary L. Nunn, daughter of Washington and Mary Nunn, natives of Cumberland County, where Mrs. Allen was also born October 1, 1847. To Mr. and Mrs. Allen seven children were born: Clara, Ettie, Annie, Charles R., Catherine, John Roger, and Ruby Leslie.
