PAGE was born March 11, 1852, in the southern part of Barren County, Ky., where he grew to manhood. His father, Dr. George M. Page, a native of Adair County, Ky., was born March 7, 1816, and is now a practicing physician in Barren County. He is the son of Samuel Page, of Virginia, who was a planter and tobacco freighter on Green River, and died in Adair County. George M. Page espoused in marriage Ermine C., daughter of James and Ann (Browner) Frazer, of Adair County, born in 1820, and from their union sprang James S., Anna (Jewell), Julia (Burton), Frazer, William, Dr. John H., Charles E. and Estelle. On the 23d of October, 1877, Dr. John H. Page married Gertrude, daughter of Thomas and Sophia (Turner) Buchanan, of Little Rock, Ark. She was born January 8, 1857, and to their union have been born two children: Clarence Jewell, deceased, and Anna Cora. In early youth, Dr. Page became greatly interested in works on the science of medicine, and in 1870 commenced a regular course of reading under his father. In 1873 he matriculated in the university at Louisville, Ky., where he graduated in 1875. In April of that year he located at Brownwood, Tex., where he remained four and one-half years, after which, on account of failing health, he spent a season in Florida. In 1884 he located in Gainesville, Allen Co., Ky., where he is now successfully engaged in the practice of his profession. Dr. Page is an Ancient Odd Fellow, and in politics affiliates with the Democratic party.
