Although my query was posted in the last Fulton, Co. Geneological journal, perhaps others will see it here. I have many ancestors from Fulton and Obion Co. Particularly - all of my dad's kin. He was David Roy Coleman, Jr. He was born in The Real Foot Lake area of Tenn. in1915 To David Roy Coleman and Naomi DeMyer Coleman. The last DeMyer homestead built by my great-grandfather James H. DeMyer is in Harris, Tenn.But he moved at some time there from Fulton, Ky. and was one of the sons of Solomon and Arena Poyner DeMyer. My Dad's early years were in Union City, Tenn. Many of my Thomas and a few Coleman relatives are buried there (David Crockett Coleman- my great-grandfather) and the parents of my great-grandmother (Mary Leugenia Thomas Coleman (1861-1933). My great-great grandparents were James Henry Thomas(1833-1911) and Martha A Peery Thomas. The father of James Henry Thomas was James Thomas (1795-1882 ) The Thomas family descendents are many in the Heartland. There was also a lot of marriage of Wards into the Thomas family. I am stumped with the Coleman line. I know that David Crockett Coleman had a relative "John Coleman"- married to Elizabeth Thomas a cousin of Mary Eugenia Thomas Coleman. You can contact me at P.O. The DeMyer family moved to Fulton probably from North Carolina as did the Paschalls and Poyners -also ancesters - they probably all moved in the late 1700s to early 1800s. Solomon and Arena (Aminda) Poyner DeMyer had very large family and many descendents. I am related to them through my grandmother Naomi Lee DeMyer Coleman formerly of Harris, Tenn. then Union City, Tenn. before moving to Escondido, CAlif. Her father was James H. DeMyer (1851-1933) a blacksmith, and bandleader. He was married three times -to Sarah Oliver, Katie B. Stewart (my great-grandmother) and Sallie Harrison. I have reason to believe that at least the first wife was from the Fulton area - maybe the first two - that is the gap that has not been completed. The Father of James H. DeMyer was Solomon and there are many descendents still in the Fulton. Obion area I believe. I have many pictures of DeMyer, Pickering, Spate, Darnell, White, Dedmon, Harrison and Kuhlman families from Kentucky and Tenn. Looking for information on C Boyd Cashon (also spelled Cashion) or D Boyd Cashon. First name is unclear. He moved from Weakley Co. Tenn. in 1830's or 1840's, and probably lived in Fulton County for a short time before settling in Graves County. He is believed to have had a son by the name of Jerome who is my great grandfather.

address 731 Davis Crossing. Canton, MS 39046. I am looking for the family and ancestors of Squire DILLON was said to be "from" Fulton county, KY in his marriage notice in the city newspaper in Vicksburg, Warren county, MS in 1857. In 1859 there is a listing for a man named E. Dillon in the Oakridge, Warren co., MS Masonic Lodge near Vicksburg where Squire is known to have settled, that could be this same man. There is no other later reference that uses any other name except Squire as his given name. I am sorry, I do not have his birth date, but assume it is about 1835.

Jacksobinia (Jackie) CHANDLER, b. June 14, 1843 in KY, father unknown (not in 1850 census) mother Martha F. //, b. ca. 1810 in MS. In 1850 she and her mother are living with Martha A. HOGG (age 22, b. MS) Fannie HOGG (age 1, b. TN), Henry CHANDLER (age 4, b. KY) and Lucy J. DRURY (age 9 mos., b. KY). She married William R. THOMAS (b. early 1830's in TN) in Fulton Co. 30 Mar 1859. In 1860 they are living with Martha and Henry Chandler, MJ THOMAS (Male, age 30, b. TN), WG DRURY (Male, Age 60, b. RI) and Ben GROOMS (Age 16, b. KY). In 1870 Jackie and William lived with 8 children, James A., Martha E., William H., Elizabeth Catherine, Sarah (Sallie, my ggm), Ida May, George M., and Iris, plus Martin ADAMS (age 21). Jackie died 29 Sept 1894 and Ida 24 May 1881. Both are buried in Fulton County. I have no further info and am looking for anything beyond this, particularly the parents of Jackie and William and the relationships (if any) between the Chandler/Thomas's and the other surnames listed.

I am looking for information on two family lines that came from Kentucky. John Vincent BRUCE born about 1855 in Kentucky married to Mary Ellen HERRING born about 1852 in Kentucky. They had two boys, Ollie Lee BRUCE born Feb. 2, 1878 in Graves County and died May 18 1962 in Clinton county, and Frank BRUCE. I have no further info. on Frank. I would like marriage, birth, or death info.
The second line is Elmore INMAN born in Kentucky married to Althea BURGE, born in Kentucky. They had a daughter, Lonnie Fitzalen INMAN born Jan. 30, 1881 in Kentucky or Tennessee. She died Jan. 29, 1947 in Fulton County.

ORAND,BRANDON/BRANNON Looking for information about the family of my great grandfather, John M. ORAND, b. 1847 in TN, d. after 1900 in TX, md. ca1869 Mary F. BRANDON/BRANNON, b. 1851 TN, d. after 1900 in TX. His father was born in NC and his mother in TN. Both of Mary's parents were born in TN. John and Mary are listed in the 1880 Christian Co KY census in the Hopkinsville Dist. with children William ORAND age 10 b. KY, Wesley M. ORAND age 7 b. KY, John R. ORAND age 3 b. KY and Georgia B. age 1 b. KY. This maybe the same John ORAND that is listed in the 1870 Fulton Co KY census. The family moved to Lampasas Co TX before 1883. In the 1900 census John's occupation is listed as "horse trader." This would be consistent with an old family story that he was shot and killed in a saloon after being accused of stealing a horse. He was in the 1880 Census for Fulton County (Sheet 13 line 8) as follows: Stephenson, John, White, Male, 26, born KY Eliza, Wife, 30, born TN John, Son, 9, born KY Tempa, Daughter, 3, born KY James, Brother, 21, born KY The name Tempa may be misspelled since she used Timppy Ellar Stephenson when she filed for a Civil War widow's pension in 1933. Ellar was my grandmother and married Robert Henry "Bob" George in 1903. At that time she was the widow of Wylie Meeks d 1900, Mephis, TN and have three small boys. Elisha my have been Cherokee.

I'm trying to find the marriage of my g grandfather, Harve N. Sheppard to Harriet Luna. Her family left Marshall Co., TN, stopped for a while in Fulton Co., KY, then ended up in MO. During their travels, Harriet disappeared from the census and shows up in MO married to Harve Sheppard with their first two children being born in KY in 1857 and 1859. I suspect Harve and Harriet must have married in KY around 1857. I noticed that both Shepard and Sheppard appear in the index of Fulton Co., KY families. Was wondering if anyone out there researching Sheppard's has come across the name Harve. According to census records, he was born in Indiana in Oct. 1831.

Where would I obtain information (newspaper stories, etc.) on the Yellow Fever Epidemic of 1878. My greatgrandfather, William F. Cline, may have been one of 180 citizens of Hickman County, KY who died in the 1878 epidemic. What newspapers would have carried stories on Hickman & Fulton Counties between 1850 and 1890? Did Cario, IL ever carry stores about southwestern Kentucky back in the late 1800's? I would appreciate any and all help in locating documentation on the Yellow Fever Epidemic of 1878 and CLINE family members.

The info I have does not know his or her parents name. shortly after they were married, they moved to Louisianna and I have been able to follow them since. Need information on Wilbert Ashley Simpson, and Sintha Ann Wood, parents of Jame Simpson and William Collier Hargrove married to Martha Jane Adams parents of Ritha Simpson.

Seeking information on Daniel STANCIEL who came to Hickman County about 1855 or so. He died in 1865 and is buried in the Harmony Cemetery located in the churchyard of the Harmony Methodist Church in Hickman county, near the Hickman-Fulton County line. Daniel was married to Ellen Frey STANCIEL, who remaried Joseph W. MCCLANAHAN after Daniel's death. Daniel and Ellen had one son, Charles Wesley STANCIL (he changed the spelling of the name). Charles and his wife Mary Samuel MORRIS STANCIL had 6 children, one of whom was my grandfather, Wilburn Sethie STANCIL, born in 1896. Charles and Mary are buried in the Clinton cemetery. The other five children (with married names where applicable) were Zonia Ann GARDNER, Dora C. BINFORD, Lula M. COOK, Walter Vernon and Wesley Herschel.

Looking for information and a David Elihu JONES and Emiline GARGUS that were said to have been in Stateline, in Fulton Co. in about 1850-1870. May have been a soldier during the Civil War and family said he drowned in this area. Children were Louis, James Marshall, Robert and Frank and a daughter Ann. The children came to TX later. Need parents and siblings on both names. Warren Randolph TALBOT b. 1861 d. 1913 Hickman was married to Sarah Elizabeth White d.1923 in Dorena Missouri. Any information would be greatly appreciated, this little bit came from my grandmother's bible and some Kentucky death

LAUDREDALE, his son was living in Hickman, KY at the time of Samuel's death. I am interested any any Fulton, Co., or Hickman Co. cemetery records of any LAUDERDALE surnames.

Would be interested in exchanging with and descendants of William and Sarah (WATSON) MOXLEY. They were married in Gibson Co, Tenn in 1835 But were in Graves Co.,Ky. in 1840, and in Fulton Co. in 1850and 1860. My great grandfather was their son, Nathaniel, b.ca1848 and married Josephine Johnson in Fulton Co. in 1872. I believe that Josephine's mother was Ann Rambo,but do not have documented proof of that. Philip FREEMAN was born in Mississippi about 1794. His father possibly was Thomas FREEMAN who died at Hickman County, 1837. Circumstances suggest Philip was closely related--a sibling?--to my ancestor, Elizabeth FREEMAN, born in Kentucky, 1787 and married at Hardin County, 1806, to Wilson BOMAR, born in Virginia, 1787. And to Elisha FREEMAN, an early Hardin landowner. Philip married, at Hardin, 1814 Susannah COUTS, born in Kentucky, about 1796. Their children (or nephews/nieces?) might have included Edward, Mary, Elisha, Amanda, and James. About 1833, they moved to Hickman and Fulton Counties. I yearn for any scraps of new info about this family.

Ivey Walker LAWRENCE moved from TN with his wife Cynthia Caroline Copeland to Ballard County between 1840 and 1844. William L. Lawrence was born there. Afterward he moved his family to Hickman Co. William married Nancy Sarah Simmons of Fulton Co. They later moved to Greene Co., AR. I believe his son Adam C. b. 1854 moved back to Ballard by 1880. Ivey and Cynthia's children were: William L., Jonathan B., Barzella Adeline m. William Terry Davis, Thomas D., Adam C., Ivy Howell m. Mary Viola McDonal, Hennrietta Catherine m. John Henry Pickett, and Fanny J. Would like to correspond with anyone connected to this Lawrence line.
