   JEFFERSON PORTER WORKMAN, was born the 3rd day of  March 1835 in Weakley Co., Tennessee, the son of John Mack Workman and Dorothy Alan Cates. He died the 25th of  October 1919 in Fulton Co., Kentucky; and is buried at Fairview Cemetery in Fulton, Kentucky.  He married (1) DELANEY ADAMS on the 6th of May 1858 in Benton Co., Tennessee. She died and he then married (2) NARCISSA JEFFERS "SIS" HAMMOND on the  24th of March 1864, the daughter of Jesse Hammonds and Mourning Adams.  She was born on the 21st day August 1845 in Gibson Co., Tennessee, died 24 November 1922 in Fulton Co., Kentucky and is also buried at Fairview Cemetery.

  "History of the 46th Tennessee Infantry", pg.79 - He enlisted in the Confederate service in Oct.1861. Captured at Island No.10, sent to Camp Douglas, Illinois. He took The oath to the U.S. while in prison, and was discharged 30 August 1862. Lived in Henry County, Tennessee (Jeff Workman). Born 1835 in Weakley Co., Tenn. He filed for a Kentucky pension on 4 May 1912 - no information was found on whether or not re received it. He was a member of the James G. Pirtle UCV Camp #990 in Fulton, Ky., until his death in 1919. He is buried in Fairview Cemetery in Fulton, Ky. next to his wife, Narcissus "Sis" Hammond. She was 77 when she died."

  His pension application says he has lived in Kentucky since 1874. (This conflicts with birth places of youngest two children in 1880 Fulton Co. Census)

1910 Fulton Co. Census - Riceville - says they had 10 children and 6 are now alive.

   Death Cetificate: States that he lived on Valley Street in Fulton. Informant was Mrs. W. A. Boyd.
Rice Furniture Co. was the undertaker and Henry G. Alexander was the doctor.
