Edgar Erskine Hume

General Hume enjoyed the reputation for
being the most honored and decorated
officer in the Army, or certainly the medical
branch.  He wore decorations of no fewer
than 38 foreign countries and held honorary
degrees from 23 colleges and universities.
He was a member of 6 Greek letter fraternities
and enjoyed honorary citizenship in 40 Italian
and Austrian cities and honorary colonel in
the Royal Serbian Army.

John Hopkins Medical School has produced
many unusual men.  However, few can be said
to have matched the versatility of General
Hume or to have covered so many parts of the
world.

December 26, 1889 - January 24, 1952
