In the name of God amen, I, bequeath my sold unto the hands of God and my body to the dust from whence it came. Being in perfect sense and memory, I now make this my last will
and testament of what it hath pleased God to give me in manner as followeth, to wit:  
1st. My desire is that all my just debts should be paid.
2and. I give and bequeath unto my son James, two negroes by the name of Phillis and Martin, one gun to him and his heirs forever.
3rd.  I given and bequeath unto my son, Robert, two negroes by the names of Tom and Anie, on feather bed and furniture to him and his heirs forever.  
4th. I given and bequeath unto my son, Richard, on negro wench by the name of Nan and her increase to him and his heirs forever.
5th. I give and bequeath unto my son, George, two negroes by the names of Sally and Milly and their increase to him and his heirs forever.  

6th.  I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Jones Cammack, one negro woman, named Mary and her increase, on cow, one feather bed and furniture to her and her heirs
forever.
7th.  I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Lucy, three negroes by the names of Hanner, James and Jude, and their increases, one cow calf, one feather bed and furniture to her
and her heirs forever.  
8th. My desire is that those negroes I sold for my life should be collected and equally divided among my children, to wit: my son, Gabriel, Thomas, Robert, James, Richard, George
and my daughter Molly Cosby's heirs, viz; Stith Cosby, Nicholas, Francis, Betsy and Garland, my daughter, Elizabeth Jones Cammack and Lucy them and their increases to them
and their heirs forever.
9th.  I give unto Garland Cosby;s daughter, Betsy, one negro by the name of Milly and her increase to her and her heirs forever.
10th.  I give and bequeath unto Garland Cosby's sons, viz, Stith Cosby, Nicholas, Francis and Garland, on negro woman by the name Dinah and her increase to them and their heirs
forever.  
11th.  I give and bequeath all my lands to be equally divided among all my children, viz; my son, John, Gabriel, Thomas, Robert, James, Richard, George and my daughter Molly
Cosby's heirs, viz, Stith Cosby, Nicholas, Francis and Garland, my daughter Elizabeth J. Cammack and Lucy to them and their heirs forever.  
12th.  I given and bequeath unto my son, Gabriel, one horse and plantation tools and one large looking glass to him and his heirs forever.  I do appoint my son, Thomas Poindexter,
James Poindexter and Garland Cosby, Executors of this my last will and testament.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fifteenth day of July
one thousand seven hundred and ninety six.

At a Court held for the County of Franklin on Tuesday the twelfth day of December 1796
The last will and testament of Thomas Poindexter was produced in Court and proven by the oaths of Jos. Adams, Jno.., Perry and Ro. Perry, which is ordered to be recorded.

Amended to the above will, my desire is that all the residue of my estate to be real and personal that has not been heretofore mentioned should be sold and any debts paid and
balance of the money to be applied to the use of purchasing of a horse for my daughter, Lucy and her heirs forever,  Also, my desire is the old negro wench Jude should be set at
liberty the remainder part of her days.

Thomas Poindexter

At a Court held for the County of Franklin on Tuesday the eighteenth day of January 1797
The last will and testament of Thomas Poindexter, decd... was produced in Court and being heretofore proved and ordered to be recorded except to the codicil thereto annexed
the same leaving no subscribing witnesses, thereupon I Christo Cammack and Ro Perry came into Court and made oath that they were acquainted with the hand writing of the
said deceased and that they believed the said signature to the said codicil was written with the hand of the said Poindexter thereupon ordered that the same be recorded.
Thereupon James Poindexter one of the executors named in the last will having entered into bond with Christo Cammack and Ro. Perry his securities in the amount of one
thousand pounds,  He having qualified agreeable to law, on his motion, ordered that probate be granted him in due form.
