I, John S. Hockensmith of the County of Franklin and State of Kentucky do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit:  I
give and bequeath to my dear wife the farm and mansion house I now live.  I give and bequeath to my dear wife all my household furniture.  I also give and bequeath
to my dear wife two horses, two cows, five sheep and five hogs as long as she shall remain unmarried and my widow, but on her decease or marriage then all the
estate goods and chattel that I have given and bequeathed to my dear wife & wish to be sold and equally divided between my children to wit; my daughter Eliza J.
Branham, my son Matson, my son George T., my son James H., my son Calvin G., my son Albert, my daughter Juliet and my daughter Sarah Lou.  I give and
bequeath to my son John B. the farm where he now lives known as the Story farm at twenty five dollars per acre containing one hundred and twenty seven acres the
fence between this farm and the John Carter place is to be the line between the two places only as far as the fence goes the land I have willed to my son John B.
will be more than his part.  I want him to pay my other children so much as to make each one equal with him sell he shall have one, two & three years to pay for
the farm, the rent shall be reduced according to the payment.  I have loaned to my son Calvin G. thirty one hundred and sixty dollars at six percent per annum.  I
give him one, two and three years to pay it in. The John Carter place I want my Executors to see it privately or publickly as they may think best or rent it until they
can sell. At the death of my beloved wife or marriage I want them to do the same with the farm where I now live and make an equal division between all my children
above named. The residue of my personal property to be sold at my death and equally divided between all my children above named.  I given and bequeath to my
daughter Emarine Shortridge three hundred dollars and that is all she is to have of my estate.  I nominate appoint my two sons John B. Hockensmith and Calvin
G. Hockensmith Executors of this my last will and testament.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal March 5th and in the year of our Lord
One thousand eight hundred and seventy seven.

Codicil
I give and bequeath to my daughter Sary Lou and the heirs of her body the farm where she now lives containing thirty on acres and a fraction at six hundred dollars.
I also give and bequeath to my daughter Sary Lou and the heirs of her body thirty five acres and a fraction joining the said farm where she now lives which I lately
had surveyed from the Head place for her at five hundred dollars the two tracts containing about seventy seven acres all eleven hundred dollars that is all she is to
have until my children first named above are made equal with her. I want my beloved wife to have the rent for the house and lot where Mr. Jacobs lives as long as
she remains my widow.  I own nine shares in the fork pike.  I do not want them sold.  I want my children that lives in this state to have the benefit of it if there ever
is any dividend July first 1878.

A writing purporting to be the last will and testament of John S. Hockensmith, deceased was produced to Court and was proven by the oaths of John A. Carter and
C. T. Jacobs the subscribing witnesses thereto whereupon it was ordered that said will be recorded which is done.
