John Louis Harrod Family

John Louis Harrod, son of Horace Harrod and Sarah Ann Quire Harrod, was born May 15, 1854 in Franklin County, Kentucky. Census indicate, John was a blacksmith by trade. On June 17, 1878 in Franklin County, Kentucky, John married Margaret Ann "Mag" Goins, born in June 1859. She was the daughter of Lewis F. Goins and Lucretia Rice Goins.  John and Margaret were the parents of the following known children.  Robert E. "Lee" Harrod, born October 1880, James William Harrod, born July 1882, John Leslie Harrod, born September 1885, Pearl Harrod, born September 1887, Horace G. Harrod, born 1889, George Washington Harrod, born September 28, 1893, Julia G. Harrod, born April 1896, Mayme J. Harrod, born November 14, 1899, Corine E. Harrod, born 1903 and Katie Harrod, born 1905. The family was living in Shelby County in 1910. John, a widow, and several of the younger children have moved back to Franklin County by 1920. According to his death certificate, John Louis Harrod is buried in the Gowens Graveyard located on the St Johns Road in Franklin County, however no marker exist. The death and burial place of Margaret, his wife, is not known.
