I, John C. Herndon of the City of Frankfort do hereby make this my last will and testament.  It is my will and desire that ll my unsettled b  be closed up as soon as practicable and the
my estate of every kind and description be settled up as speedily as convenient by me executor herein after named.
I hereby appoint my brother, William T. Herndon my executor and my beloved wife, Margaret J. Herndon, executrix of this my last will and testament, and they are hereby clothed with

power and authority to convey any real estate heretofore sold by me, and also to sell and convey from time to time any real or personal estate owned by me and convert the proceeds
or manage and control the same as they may deem best for the interest of my family, ample and full authority is hereby given them to settle and adjust and compromise and and all
matters ___ my estate or any portion thereof that they may deem right and proper and for the interest of my family.
In case of the death of one of either one of my executors to qualify and act as such then and in that event the survivor or one that may qualify and act as such is hereby fully empowered

to carry out and execute the provisions of this my last will and testament as stated and indicated herein. It is my will and desire that my said executors shall make provisions out of
the remainder of my estate after the payment of my just debts for the education of my youngest children, they being females and not advanced in the way of their education, and any
and all sums expended on their education is to be taken and held as a specific appreciation for said purpose and not to be regarded as a charge against either of them in the final
distribution of my estate.  In witness whereof I hereto subscribe my name this 16th day of March 1856.

A writing purporting to be the last will and testament of John C. Herndon, deceased was produced in court and proved by the oaths of William A. Gaines and Felicia Clarke two of the

subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded, which is done accordingly.
