I, Edmund Vaughan of Franklin County and state of Kentucky feeling and knowing the uncertainty of life and the necessity that all must die, being weak in body, but
sound in mind do constitute, publish and appoint this my last will and testament.
Item # 1  I give and bequeath unto my son, William Vaughan, during his natural life on equal half of the tract of land whereon he formerly resided, being the same tract
of land I purchased of John Smith, also the one fourth part the following slaves and their increase to wit: Jeremiah, Violett, Manuel, Mary , Milly, York, Sarah, Frank,
Samuel, Cintha, Horace, George, Albert, Granville, Emeline, Harriett, Mary, Josephine, Ned, the boy I purchased from Harrison Blanton, Matilda, Margaret, Louisa and
Joseph, Matilda's child and at his decease to be given to such child or children as he may have living.  But, if the said William Vaughan should die without have issue
then it is my wish and devise that the one fourth of the above mentioned and described slaves and their increase and the aforesaid undivided moiety? of land.  Moiety?
of land should be equally divided between my three sons; John, Edmund and Walker to them and their heirs.
Item # 2  I give and bequeath unto my son, John Vaughan during his natural life on equal half of the tract of land whereon my son William formerly resided, the same
tract of land I purchased of John Smith, also the one fourth part of the above mentioned and described slaves and their increase, also on feather bed and furniture, one
cow and calf and at his decease to be given to such child or children as he may have living. But, if the said John Vaughan should die without leaving issue then it is my
wish and devise that the above mentioned one fourth of slaves and their increase and the aforesaid undivided moiety? of land should be equally divided between my three
sons; William, Edmund and Walker to them and their heirs.
Item # 3  I give and bequeath unto my son, Edward Vaughan during his natural live the tract of land he now lives on, being the tract of land purchased of Thomas Martin,
also on fourth part of the above mentioned and described slaves and their increase and at his decease to be given to such child or children as he may have living.  But, if
the said Edward Vaughan should die without leaving issue, then it is my wish and devise that the above mentioned one fourth of slaves and increase and the aforesaid
tract of land should be equally divided between my three sons; William, John and Walker to them and their heirs.
Item # 4  I give and bequeath unto my son, Walker Vaughan during his natural live all that tract or parcel of land on which I now live, lying north east of Willis Blanton's
spring branch, also one fourth part of the above mentioned slaves and their increase, also one good feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf and at his deceased to
be given to such child of children as he may have living, But, if the said Walker Vaughan should die without leaving issue, then it is my wish and devise the above
mentioned one fourth  of slaves and their increase and the aforesaid tract of land should be equally divided between my three sons; William, John and Edmund, to
them and their heirs.
Item # 5  I give and bequeath unto my son, Thomas Vaughan during his natural life my tract of lan on the Kentucky River, the same purchased of James Richie, also
a negro boy named Willis and at his decease to be given to such child or children as he may have living, but if the said Thomas Vaughan should die without leaving
issue then it is my wish and devise that the above mentioned negro boy, Willis and the aforesaid tract of land purchased of James Richie should be equally divided
between my four sons; William, John, Edmund and Walker, to them and their heirs.
Item # 6  I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Elizabeth Tinsley during her natural live the following slaves to wit:  Sinthia, Emily, Esther, Joe and Ned, them and
their increase and at her deceased to be given to such child or children she may have living, but if the said Elizabeth Tinsley should die without leaving issue, then it
is my wish and devise that the slaves last above mentioned and their increase should be equally divided between my four sons; William, John, Edmund and Walker,
to them and their heirs.
Item # 7  I give and bequeath unto my sons James Vaughan the residue of the tract of land whereon I now reside, that's to say all south west of Willis Blanton spring
branch, called and known by the name of Lindsey's old place.  I also give unto James Vaughan and Polly Vaughan all the land I am entitled to by my intermarriage
with my late wife, Susanna Vaughan, to be equally divided between them, also I give and bequeath unto my son James Vaughan and my daughter, Polly Vaughan
the following slaves to wit; Ned, a negro man left by Henry Thompson, deceased, Caty, wife of Free Daniel, Ailsey, Richardson, Harrison, Gilbert, Moses, Amy, Sam,
Hannah, Caty, Jenny, Malinda, Maria, Lucy and Fillis, them and their increase to be equally divided between them.  I also give unto James and Polly each of them,
on good feather bed and furniture, also to each of them a horse, bridle and saddle of the value of one hundred dollars.  But, if the said James and Polly Vaughan
should die before they arrive at the age of twenty one leaving no child at their death, I give and bequeath the aforesaid lands and slaves and their increase to the
survivor James or Polly Vaughan.  But, if that said James and Polly Vaughan both should die before they arrive at the age of twenty one  year leaving no child or
living at their death, I devise the above mentioned lands and slaves and their increase equally to my four sons: William, John, Edmund and Walker, to them and
their heirs.
It is my will and devise that the residue of my estate if there should be any after ___? with the above devised and paying my debts should be equally distributed
between my sons; William, John, Edmund, John Walker and James and my daughter, Polly Vaughan and Elizabeth Tinsley -- and for the purpose of carrying into
effect my will aforesaid.  I do constitute and appoint William Vaughan, Edmund Vaughan and Walker Vaughan, Executors to this my last will and testament.  In
witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th of June 1822.
