Founded in October, 1994 at Prestonsburg, KY to preserve and promote the history and genealogy of eastern Kentucky's mother county. We meet the 3rd Monday of each month in the Samuel May House. in Prestonsburg at 6:00 P. M.

Individual members and family memberships receive one copy of the "The Floyd Countian"our quarterly publication. Dues are used for the operation and projects of the society which include: establishing a research and repository facilty at the old Post Office Building in Prestonsburg.  If you wish to join, mail your application to the above address, or bring it to a meeting.
