Wayne Douglas Winkler

Wayne Douglas Winkler, 79, of Danville, Ky., formerly of Middletown, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 6, 1924, in Estill County, Kentucky. Mr. Winkler graduated from Estill County High School and was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Winkler was a member of the Lincoln Lodge 693, Scottish Rite and Eastern Star. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 46 in Danville, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 3634 and a Kentucky Colonel. Mr. Winkler worked for General Motors.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie “Penny” Lois (Lutes) Winkler; two daughters, Connie Goodlett of Danville and Sharon Jones of Danville; three brothers, Raymond Winkler of Miamisburg, Robert Winkler of Hamilton and Greely Winkler of Irvine, Ky.; two sisters, Anna Lou Lay of Irvine and Eva Wood of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Swelbar officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be at the Butler County Memorial Park with military honors by the American Legion Post 218 Honor Guard.
