Thomas Abney

ABNEY, Thomas - Age 69, of Flint, died Wednesday, August 20, 2003. Funeral service will be held at 1PM Monday, August 25, 2003 at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, with Pastor Dave Hintz officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 5-8PM on Friday and from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Saturday and Sunday. Mr. Abney was born February 4, 1934 in Irvine, KY, the son of Seay and Elvira (Hall) Abney. He married Shirley Batten on March 1, 1955. Thomas retired in 1996 from Buick Motor Division, Plant 36 after 37 years of service. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, watching professional wrestling and playing horse shoes. Survivors include: wife of 48 years, Shirley; children, Kathy (Ron) Breckenridge, Betty (Jim) Davis, Thomas Wade (Gerri) Abney, David Abney, Kim (Jeff) McKenzie; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sisters, Stella Royalty, Ruby Wilson, Ruth Morter; brother, Leo Abney; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Seay and Elvira Abney; 2 brothers, Jesse Abney and Emery Abney; 1 sister, Nettie Rose.
