Floyd Abney

Floyd Abney, 72, widower of Elsie Abney, of 1641 Little Hardwicks Creek Road, Clay City, KY died Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at his residence following a long illness. He was a native of Estill County, KY and the son of the late Odus Douglas and Elsie Puckett Abney. He was retired from Foster & Creighton Construction Company and was a member of Hardwicks Creek Church of God. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlene Bailey. He is survived by four sons, Wayne Abney, Gary Abney and Tony Abney all of Clay City, KY and Ray Abney of Frenchburg, KY; three daughters, Janet Townsend and Barbara Robertson both of Clay City, KY and Laura Rogers, Stanton, KY; 23 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. Funeral; services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hearne Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. J. R. Phillippe with burial following in Puckett Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday at Hearne Funeral Home. Active pallbearers are Jerry Wells, Earl Profitt, James A. Bailey, Glenwood Abney, Darrell Slemp and Marvin Abney.
