George Wilburn - 1914-2007

George W. Wilburn, 93, of Rush, died Tuesday at Wurtland Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born November 8, 1914, in Grayson, a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Stevens Wilburn. 

He attended the Music Chapel Church, was a life time member of D.A.V., an American ex-prisoner of war and a former commander for the veterans Chapter 17. 

He also was preceded in death by two sons, John Paul and Homer Wilburn; four sisters, Mary Dinkins, Florence Gullett, Ethel Lucas, and Ida Dinkins; two great-grandchildren Ashley and Brianna Preston; and one son-in-law, Ishmal Sturgill. 

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Clotine Brainard Wilburn; three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Deloris Wilburn, James and Bonnie Wilburn and Greg and Shannon Wilburn, all of Grayson; two daughters, Betty Sturgill of Cattletsburg and Jo Anne and Bobby Fannin of Rush; one sister, Goldie Freize of Grayson; and two brothers, William Wilburn of Hitchins and Robert Wilburn of Rush.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Malone Funeral Home, with Ministers Don Pope and Don Barker officiating. 

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
