Hobert Whitt, 78, of 1002 Monongahela St., Belle Vernon, died Friday, Nov. 22, 1996, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. 

He was born in Grayson, Ky., on Sep. 27, 1928, a son of the late Tildon and Pearl Whitt. 

Mr. Whitt was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. 

Survivors include two sons, John P. Whitt and Jack E. Whitt both of Pittsburgh; one brother, Homer Whitt of Akron, Ohio; and five grandchildren. 

Friends will be received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the James C. Stump funeral Home, Inc. Sweeney Plan, Rostraver Township. 
Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, Rostraver Township.
