Barbara J. Thornberry, 67, of Ashland, passed away Friday morning, Aug. 3, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

She was born Feb. 20, 1940, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Ellis R. and Geneva Fannin Thornberry.

Ms. Thornberry was a registered nurse at King’s Daughters Medical Center for 45 years and a member of the American Nurses Association.

She is survived by her three brothers, Elmer (Rose) Thornberry of Grayson, Teddy (Helen) Thornberry of Rush and Terry (Mary) Thornberry of Huntington; 
two sisters, Sonja (Larry) Green of Greenup and Carol (Danny) Coleman of Rush; her special friend and cousin, Betty Rucker of Ashland; 
and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services for Ms. Thornberry will be Sunday, Aug. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson. 
She will be laid to rest in the Coalton Community Cemetery.

Friends may call between the hours of 6 to 9 tonight, Aug. 4 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
