Dewey D. Douglas, 73, 819 E. 30th St., went to be with his Lord and Savior at 6:54 a.m. Monday. He died in Marion General Hospital surrounded by his family. 

He was born in Olive Hill, Ky., to the late Cleff and Hazel (Jessie) Douglas and had been a resident of Marion for the past 41 years. He married Betty Jo Black on Sept. 27, 1952. She preceded him in death April 20, 2003. 

He retired from the Marion General Motors plant in 1993. He loved to garden and loved flowers. He was a NASCAR fan and loved spending time with his family. 

Survivors include his daughters, Sharon (Tony) Shanks and Sandra L. Douglas, both of Marion; granddaughters, Lindsay Jo Shanks and Megan Lee Shanks, both of Marion; brothers, Loyd (Wilma) Douglas, New Castle, and Dewain (Annie) Douglas, Marion; and sisters, Shelby (Gerald) Goff, Van Buren, and Shirley (Donald) Clark and Sue (Leewood) Mabry, both of Marion. 

He also was preceded in death by a brother, Talmage Douglas. 

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., with Pastor Roy Burkhart of Jalapa Road Freewill Baptist Church and Pastor Danny Douglas, New Castle, officiating. Burial is in Estates of Serenity cemetery. 

Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
