William G. “Billy George” Stevens

William G. “Billy George” Stevens, 80, of Grayson, Ky., ascended this life on Sept. 22, 2007. His departure was a result of an aircraft malfunction.

He was the son of the late Arthur D. Stevens and Mary Adams Acton. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Elbert Berry, and his son-in-law, 
Glenn E. Bush.

Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Glenna Miller Stevens; four children, Brenda Bush (David Claxon), Bruce (Janie) Stevens, 
Blaine Stevens and Barton (Jeannie) Stevens; seven grandchildren, Barrett (Courtney) Bush, Toni (Tim) Jobe, Courtney Dunn, Nikki (Jason) James, 
Will (Vanessa) Stevens, and Raice and Shane Stevens; and eight great-grandchildren, Drew, Shelbi, Bryce, Drake, Brady, Ryleigh, Eli and Griffin.

At 15 years of age, Bill started work on the railroad. After a short career, he began working in the construction field as a boilermaker. 
He later went with Union Boiler Construction Co., where he retired as vice president of the stack division. After retirement, he was fortunate 
to be able to spend 25 years pursuing his passion for flying aviation. He was a Kentucky colonel, a member of the Experimental Aviation Association 
and Willard Masonic Lodge 626, F&AM. He was a volunteer driver for Grayson Meals on Wheels and attended Willard Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with David Braun and Mike Harper, ministers. 
Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any of his favorite charities or church: Disabled Veterans of America or Grayson Meals on Wheels.
