James Othar Stevens Born – 1926 MOREHEAD – Mr. James Othar Stevens, age 80, of Morehead, went home to be with the Lord, Monday morning, February 19, at his residence in Morehead. Mr. Stevens was born November 22, 1926 in Carter County, and is a son of the late James H. and Margaret Barker Stevens. Othar was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a Christian and of the United Baptist faith. He was retired from the Kentucky State Highway Department where he worked for many years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Tom Stevens, Marvin Stevens and Ed Stevens; three sisters, Ethel Stevens, Ola Knipp and Lola Messer; one son-in-law, Neil Fraley. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Louise Bailey Stevens; one son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Leslie Stevens of Morehead; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Von Kiser of Olive Hill, Vicki and Tony DeHart of Mount Sterling, and Lorie and Jeff Callihan of Morehead; eight grandchildren, Ashley Stevens and (Jimmy Howard), Chris Callihan, Alix Stevens, Sarah Callihan, Traci Shae Stevens, Katlyn Callihan, Kelsey Stevens, Blake Stevens; one great-grandchild, Boone Howard; two brothers, Hermel Stevens and Stanley Stevens both of Delong, Indiana; two sisters, Dollie Sammons of Olive Hill and Elizabeth Waddell of Elliott County; a very special friend, Cecil Moore of Morehead and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will sadly miss him. Funeral services were held Friday, February 23, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Elder Owen Cox and Elder Eury Barker officiating. Burial followed in the Cranston Cemetery in Morehead. Allen Stevens, Alex Stevens, Chris Callihan, Donnie Stevens, Roger Plank, Ronnie Barker, Eddie DeHart and Junior Messer served as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers were Rayburn Bailey, Buck Thomas, Von Kiser, Jeff Callihan, Tony DeHart and Jimmy Howard.
