Jessamine Ervine Smith, 80, of Grayson, died Saturday, Sept. 7, at her residence following a long illness. 
She was born March 5, 1922, at Lost Creek, a daughter of the late Ed and Carrie Carr Stephens. 

She was a member of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church. 

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Evan Smith; a son, Cecil Ruban Smith; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. 

Survivors include three sons, George Elton Smith and John Edward Smith, both of Grayson, and Clyde Nelson Smith of Garrison; five daughters, Mary Louise Morrison of Neveda, Ohio, Tina Marie Harlow of Grayson, Clara Mae McClanahan of Oldtown, Hazel June Schaber of New Bloomington, Ohio, and Opal Arlene Montgomery of Elida, Ohio; a granddaughter whom she and her husband raised, Jewell Dean Neace of Grayson; four sisters, Betty Sutton of Grayson, Alice Stephens of Oldtown, Hazel Hart of Columbus, Ohio, and Inez McDaniel of McDermott, Ohio; two brothers, Wayne Stephens and Bill Stephens, both of Grayson; 35 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Salem Missionary Baptist Church by Charles Lybrook and Mike Wilder, ministers. Burial will be in the Claxon Cemetery. 

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and after noon Monday at the church. 

Malone Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
