Carl Sergent 

1920-2004 

Carl Sergent, 83, of Ashland, formerly of Carter County, died Sunday at Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility. 

He was born Dec. 30, 1920, in Carter County, a son of the late Steve and Virgie Stephens Sergent. 

Mr. Sergent was a retired parts and office manager with Whayne Supply Co. He was a member of American Legion Post 
No. 76, VFW, was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran and was of the Baptist faith. 

He is survived by two daughters, Patty Gray and her husband, John, of Ashland, Amy Hinderliter and her husband, Robert, of Ashland; 
three sons, Carl A. Sergent of Ashland, Jerry Sergent and his wife, Judy, of Ashland, and Tim Sergent and his wife, Malissa, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; 
a brother, Cliff Sergent of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Elsie McDavid of Grayson, Lena Lupo of Columbus, and Vada Green of Columbus; 
12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel with a military service by 
the American Legion Kenova Post No. 93. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. 

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY, 41101.
