James W. (Bill) Scott        
1923 - 2004 

 James W. (Bill) Scott, age 81, of Grayson, KY, died September 8th, 2004, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY. 
Bill was the son of the late James B. and Exie Holland Brown Scott and was born April 20th, 1923 in Worthington, KY. 

Bill was a retired barber in Grayson, where he barbered for 50 years on Hord Street. 

Bill was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, having served as a surgical technician during the campaigns in the East Indies, New Guinea and Luzan. He was a holder of the Phillipine Liberation Ribbon, American Theater, Asiatic-Pacific Theater, with three Bronze Stars, Distinguished Unit Badge and one Bronze Service Star. 

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his family and daily political discussions with his friends. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Grayson, where he had served as a deacon and was a member of the Trimble Lodge #145 F & AM. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Ferguson, and a brother, Gene T. Scott. 

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Arlene Mullins Scott, a brother, George Scott, a daughter, Jennifer McGlone, and her husband, Mike McGlone, and a son, W. Jeffrey Scott, and his wife, Mary DeSantis Scott. 

Four grandchildren will sadly miss their “Bee”. They are Ashley Brown of Ft. Wright, KY; William Jess McDavid of Knoxville, TN; William Taylor Scott of Orlando, FL and Lauren Nicole Scott of Lexington, KY. 


Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 10th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Malone Funeral Home with Phil LeMaster officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m. and Friday after 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Community Hospice 1538 Central Avenue Ashland, KY 41101
