Oscar Messer - 1925-2007

Oscar Messer, age 81, of Greenup, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.

Mr. Messer was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Charlie and Tennessee Lore Messer.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel Irene Adkins Messer on Nov. 22, 1982.

He was a retired farmer and a former member of the National Farmers Organization. 
He worked at the A.S.C.S. office and loved to sing and play bluegrass gospel music, but most of all he was a Christian.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel Adkins Messer; two sons, Joseph Walter Messer and his wife, Donna of Davenport, Fla., 
and Billy Edward Messer and his wife, Vicki of Ashland; two daughters, Annette Madden and her husband, Frank of Lloyd, Ky., 
and Georgia Marie Blanton and her husband, Howard of Warnock, Ky.; four brothers, Charles Franklin Messer of Grayson, Ky., 
Marvin “Toby” Messer of Olive Hill, Ky., Herman Messer of Grayson and Vernon Messer of Olive Hill; a sister, Charlene Imel of Grayson; 
three stepsons, Ray Musser of Troy, Ohio, Larry Musser of Columbus, Ohio, and George Musser of Portsmouth; two stepdaughters, 
Betty Camden of Portsmouth and Carol Carter of Chillicothe, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; 
17 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Darrin Lore and Brother Kenny Carver. 
Burial will be in Baker McGinnis Cemetery in Greenup County, Ky.

Visitation will be at 6 tonight, Jan. 30, 2007, at the funeral home.
