Willie Lee Mays 

1916-2004 

Willie Lee Mays, 87, formerly of Olive Hill, Ky., was called home to be with his Lord on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, in Boyd County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. 

Lee Mays was born Sept. 15, 1916, a son of the late Millard and Verna Cheeks Mays. 

He was a born again Christian and attended the Dry Branch Church of God and most recently the Hoods Creek Freewill Baptist Church in Ashland, Ky. He was a retired brick maker from General Refractories in Olive Hill. 

Preceding him in death were his loving wife, Golda Mae Layne Mays; a daughter, Erma Faye (Bunny) Price; a grandson, Michael Wayne Price; five brothers, Arnold Ray Mays, Watt Vernon Mays, Clarence Mays, Emil Mays and Neil Mays; one sister, Carmie Armstrong; and a son-in-law, Austin Lowe. 

Surviving are a son, Ronnie Mays and his wife, Katie, of Ashland; two daughters, Kathleen (Kat) Lowe Prichard and her husband, Harlan, of Grayson, Ky., and Carolyn Sue (Tootie) Barker and her husband, Roger, of LaGrange, Ohio; two brothers, Carl Mays of Warren, Ohio, and Russell Mays of Olive Hill; two sisters, Letha Ritchie of Indiana and Phyllis Mays of Ashland; and a son-in-law, Earl Wayne Price of Ashland. 

Lee Mays also had nine surviving grandchildren and their spouses, Sandy Duncan, Deanna Smith, Anita Thacker, Teresa Lunsford, Charles Price, Ronnie Mays Jr., Melissa Felty, Chris Mays and Roger Barker; 11 great-grandchiildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Globe Funeral Chapel just outside of Olive Hill with Brother Gayle Price and Brother Delmar Logan Jr. bringing the message of comfort. 

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6 to 9 tonight, Feb. 20, and two hours before the funeral on Saturday.
