Renford 'Red' Lawhun

June 30, 1929-March 17, 2004 

Renford "Red" Lawhun, 74, of 4755 Zeigler Road, Bucyrus, died Wednesday at MedCentral/Mansfield. He had been seriously ill since January with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Born in Olive Hill, Ky., to the late Stanley and Stella RuMetta (Bloomfield) Lawhun, he was married Feb. 12, 1949, to Maggie L. "Ceal" Lawhun, who preceded him in death April 27, 1995. 

Mr. Lawhun is survived by three sons, Orville Lawhun of Caledonia, Dwight E. (Venita) Lawhun and Steven R. Lawhun, both of Bucyrus; one daughter, Sherry (Raymond) Conn of Bucyrus; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Eugene of Bucyrus, Charles of Kentucky, Jack of London, Ohio, and Homer of Wheelersburg; one sister, Virginia Lewis of Bucyrus, and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy Cooley; three grandchildren; seven brothers, Carless, Stanley Jr., Chester, Sherman, Sherill, Billy Joe and Donald Lee; and two sisters, Helen and Irene. 

He worked at Crawford Steel for 27 years until it closed and for the next 30 years at Ohio Locomotive Crane, where he retired. Mr. Lawhun was an avid sportsman and particularly enjoyed fishing and hunting. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Angel officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
