THE PORTSMOUTH TIMES SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 1892 KINNEY, KY. (Correspondence of the Times) “Elder J. B. Lawhorn aged about 90 years, died at Clarksburg one day last week, and was buried in Carter county, He has been in the ministry for over sixty years, and was highly respected by all who knew him.” (Note by DKT: His photo can be found on the Carter County Photo’s Page and his family records can be found under Surnames on the Carter County Site. All records show that he died in 1892 but this newspaper article ties his death to sometime during the week of Saturday, Feb. 20 to Friday, Feb. 26, 1892. Clarksburg is located in Lewis County, slightly south and west of Vanceburg. Since his photo is hanging in the Bethel Church it is possible he is buried there however no tombstone is listed in his name on the Carter Cemetery records.)
