Lois Purnell - 1924-2007

Lois Alice Kiser Corns Purnell, 83, of Raceland, died Nov. 9, 2007, in Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. 

She was born July 12, 1924, in Carter County, the daughter of the late Charles and Murl Marie Pack Kiser.

She was a retired factory worker for A.O. Smith in Tipp City, Ohio, and a member of Lower Grassy Church of Christ.

She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Isaac Newton Corns, who died in 1976; her second husband, Leslie Purnell Jr., who died in 1999; and a son, Leslie Corns, who died in 1997.

Survivors include a son, Paul Edward Corns of Garrison; two daughters, Minnie Marie Collier and her husband, Henderson, of South Shore and Helen Burns of Raceland; a stepson, Ralph Purnell of Greenup; a stepdaughter, Wanda Green of Hazard; a brother, Douglas Kiser of Garrison; a sister, Mary Byrd of North Carolina; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Carl Collier. Burial will be in Everman Cemetery in Carter County.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Tuesday and an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
