Betty Kegley Stucky

1923 - 2006



MOREHEAD - Betty Kegley Stucky, 83, widow of Meredith M. "Bud" Stucky, passed away Monday, September 25, 2006 at her residence 
after an illness of several weeks.
She was born on July 3, 1923 in Carter County, Kentucky the late James Harve Kegley and Martha Cline Kegley. 
Mrs. Stucky was the former owner of Stucky Beauty Salon, Tri-State Beauty Academy and a former partner in Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home. 
Betty and her husband, Bud founded the Stucky Funeral Home on Main Street in Morehead in 1951. They worked along side each other there 
for over 25 years. She was a licensed hairdresser and cosmetology instructor for over 60 years and a licensed funeral director for over 
50 years. Betty graduated from Soldier High School and from Beauty School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was a member of the Morehead 
First Church of God, a charter member of the Business and Professional Woman's Club, former member of the Morehead Woman's Club,member 
of The Kentucky Association of Cosmetology Schools, The National Association of Cosmetology Schools, The American Association of Cosmetology
Schools, Teacher Education Council, The Morehead Rowan County Chamber of Commerce and Rowan County Democratic Club. She was involved 
in writing new state legislation for cosmetology schools, served on committees and as an evaluator for the Southern Association of 
Colleges and Schools and always participated in the Harvest and Hardwood Festival Parade.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Stucky, two brothers, 
Jack J. Kegley and James Russell Kegley and two sisters, Pauline Newman and Joan Back.
Survivors include one daughter, Ginny Pass and her husband, Ted of Clearfield, one brother, John Paul Kegley and his wife, 
Faye of Morehead, two sisters, Mary Opal Ratliff of Marion, Indiana and Lois Lancaster of Crestview, Florida and two 
grandchildren, Kristen Pass Collins and her husband, Mike of Morehead and Michael Ted Pass of Winchester, Virginia.
Also, Rick, Nellie and Sasha Spence who were her friends and devoted caregivers and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 28, 2006 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home 
with Dr. Jack Ellis officiating. Entombment followed in the Stucky Mausoleum in Brown Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Pass, Mike Collins, Rick Spence, Mike Kegley, Steve Back, Larry Newman, Jerry Strunk and Dave Saxon 
and honorary pallbearers were Bill Huie, Bill Lane, Mike Gray, John Paul Kegley, Victor White, Danny Meenach, Randy Day, Tim Eldridge and Truman Dehner.
