Margaret Eloise Kegley


GEORGIA - Margaret Eloise Kegley, 90 of Albany died July 30, 2006 at her daughter’s residence following an illness.

The memorial service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors.

A native of Olive Hill and a former resident of Fort Myers, FL for 40 years, Mrs. Kegley has lived in Albany for the past 9 years, 
where she attended Avalon United Methodist Church and was a member of the Ladies Bible Sunday School Class. 
She was an Alpha Delta Kappa, a member of the Eastern Star, and the Forget-Me-Not Club. 
She graduated from Morehead University and Stetson with degrees in Education and Religious Studies. 
She taught school for 43 years in Olive Hill, Portsmouth, Va. and Ft. Myers, Fla. She was an accomplished pianist and organist 
having served three churches for many years. She was a devoted daughter and a loving mother and devoted wife.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John Woodson Kegley; a daughter Charlotte Ann Sabie and brother John Holley Jr.

Survivors include her, son, James A. Kegley of Seattle, WA, two daughters, Camilla Kegley Phillips of Albany, Carol Kegley Lewis of Chesapeake, VA; 
a brother Jack Fields Holley of Morehead; 12 grandchildren: Harlis D. Phillps Jr. (Ty), Leah Phillips Sewell, Brandi Jackson, Myna Bashford, 
Liza Young, Leah Simmons, Livia Kegley, John Kegley, Leana Kegley, Tobie Sabie, Zane Sabie, Summer Sabie, 9 great-grandchildren and 
numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends following the service. Those desiring, please make memorial contributions 
to the Mattie Marshall Center, Magnolia Manor, 2001 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709.
