Elijah Henderson

Elijah Henderson, 86, of Gleason Road, Piketon, OH, died Thursday, February 26, 2004, at Pike Community Hospital, in Waverly, OH. He was born on March 31, 1917, in Olive Hill, KY, the son of the late Walter Pierce and Lucindy (Guillam) Henderson. On March 26, 1941, he married Mary Belle (Hilderbrand) Henderson, who preceded him in death on August 25, 2001. 

Surviving are five sons, James L. (Sarah) Henderson, of Piketon, OH, Kenneth E. Henderson, of Shelocta, PA, Buford (Lynn) Henderson, of Otway, OH, Marvin K. (Francis) Henderson, of Piketon, OH, and Richard D. Henderson, of Piketon, OH; two stepsons, Gerald D. (Betty) Hall, of Murfreesboro, TN, and Clyde (Betty) Hall, Jr., of Piketon, OH; two daughters, Naomi F. (Bobby) Russell and Gracie P. Fugate, both of Piketon, OH; one sister, Gracie Swongo, of Indiana; 28 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents and wife, Elijah was preceded in death by two sons, Paul and Elwood Henderson; two stepdaughters, Maxine and Dessie Hall; two sisters, Myrtle Gorman and Jesse Meyers; two brothers, George Henderson and infant brother; and a daughter-in-law, Juanita Henderson. 

Elijah was retired farmer and timber worker and attended Beaver's Chapel Church of Christ in Christian Union. 

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 29, 2004, at Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home, in Piketon, OH, with Rev. Roy Carver officiating. Burial will follow in Gardner Cemetery. 

Friends may call at Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from noon until the time of the service Sunday.
