HARRIS, Paul Sparks Sr.

 
Paul Sparks Harris, Sr., 86, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. 

He was born in Grahn, Ky. on October 30, 1919 to the late James B. and Madge Rice Harris. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Delora L. Harris, 
three brothers, and a sister. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in New Guinea and Australia. 
He attended Morehead University in Morehead, Ky., and received a B.S. and M.S. from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky. 
He began working as a Virginia Coop Extension agent in 1953 in Southhampton County. In 1958 he was named the Unit Chairman of Prince George County 
extension service where he served until retiring in 1979. 

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jeanie H. and Alan R. McDaniel, of Blacksburg; his son and daughter-in-law, Paul S., Jr. 
and Rebecca B. Harris, of Fort Myers, Fla.; a granddaughter, Katherine Harris; three grandsons, Ian K. McDaniel, John Paul Harris, and Ryan K. McDaniel; 
a sister-in-law, Evelyn Harris, of Olive Hill, Ky.; and many loving nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 12, 2005 at 1 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Don McKinney officiating. 
Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Young Life of NRV, 
c/o Steve Schmitt, P.O. Box 300, Blacksburg, Va. 24063. 

Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Sunday, and the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 
150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg.
