Autry D. Hamm

MANSFIELD -- Autry D. Hamm, 66, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at his son's home in Mansfield. 

He battled cancer for eight months. 

He was born August 8, 1937 in Soldier, Kentucky to the late Arlie and Blanche (Clark) Hamm, living in Mansfield since November of 1959. Autry retired from the Empire Detroit Steel Mill in January of 1992 after thirty-two years of service. He was a member of the Elm Street Freewill Baptist Church in Shelby and enjoyed going to auctions, bowling, fishing when he was young, and was an animal lover. 

He is survived by his wife whom he married September 9, 1956, Emma Jean Hamm; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Stephanie Hamm of Cardington and Darrin and Diane Hamm of Mansfield; six grandchildren, David Jr., Ashley, Brittany, Jessica, Meghan, and Tyler; a great-grandson, Payton; brother, Bobby Hamm of Soldier, Kentucky; and three sisters, Brenda Sue Hamm, Patty Hamm, and Robin Hamm all of Soldier, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Georgia Guffey; five brothers, Elwood Hamm, James Hamm, Wade Hamm, Danny Hamm, and Wilmar "Baby" Hamm. 

Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Wednesday, June 2, 2004 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 3, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by Pastor Wayne Castle from Elm Street Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to North Central Hospice or Elm Street Freewill Baptist Church.
