Harold Ammon Haight        
1920 - 2005 

Harold Ammon Haight, 85, of Grayson went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 12, 2005 in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center. 
Born on July 25, 1920 on Evermans Creek, he was the eldest son of the late Glenn and June Duley Haight. Upon his return from WWII, 
where he served as a proud Marine, he married his high school sweetheart, the late Avalon Martin on August 25, 1945. 
Also preceding him in death were his two sisters, Blanche Mays and Pauline Stevens; his brother, Ray Haight, and his two infant children, 
Jan Leigh and Larry Franklin Haight. 

He is survived by his daughter, Jerri Lynn (Arthur) Shaffer of Grayson, and two granddaughters, Carrie Leigh and Courtney Lynn Shaffer; 
a special nephew, Jim Tom (Betty) Martin and his family of Grayson, and his sister-in-law, Mabel Caudill and family. 
He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, Dollie Whitt, Gayle Rodgers, William Gill, Bob Haight and family, 
the family of the late Roscoe Haight, The Oscar Haight, Jr. family and the families of the late Roy Martin, Pauline Stevens, 
Blanche Mays and Ray Haight. 


Harold was a graduate of Carter High School. Upon his return from the war, he went to work at Fleming-Mason Rural Electric Cooperative 
where he served as a lineman. When Grayson Rural Electric was formed in 1951, he worked as a lineman, a construction foreman, and then as the 
General Manager, until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of numerous civic and community groups including Rotary, Eastern Star, 
Trimble Lodge No. 145 F&AM, Lions Club, El Hasa Shrine, Soil Conservation, Farm Bureau and Boy Scouts. He also served on the Board of Directors 
for the Commercial Bank and was a member of the Bagby Memorial Methodist Church. 


Harold loved his family, his farm and his community. He had many friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 
Special thanks to the staff of Forest Heights at Kingsbrook Lifecare Facility who loved and so gently cared for him during the last few months of his life.
 Thanks also to Dr. Foiret, Dr. Paulus, Dr. Joseph, and Dr. Nelson and their associates for their kind and excellent care that they provided 
to Harold during the past eight months. 


Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening, November 15th, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. at the Malone Funeral Home by the ministers Brad Smart 
and Phillip Stephens. Friends may call after 6:00pm until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be 
held at a later date at East Carter Co. Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or the
