Donald Gilliam 

1934-2003 

Donald L. Gilliam, age 69, of Olive Hill, Ky., formerly of Vine Grove and Fort Knox, Ky., died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003. 

Mr. Gilliam was born Aug. 8, 1934, in Emerson, Lewis County, Ky., a son of the late Chester A. and Molly Akers Gilliam. 

Don was an Army veteran, retiring after 22 years and nine months of service, as a first sergeant. He received his associate's degree 
from Northwood University, Fort Knox branch, after retiring. 

After returning to Olive Hill in 1983, he had two years training in bank collections at Peoples Bank in Olive Hill, 
then worked at the New Citizens Bank in Grayson and also the First Community Bank of Vanceburg. 

Don served for 20 years as service officer for the American Legion Post 138, helping fellow veterans in various ways. 

In June of this year, Don gave his heart to the Lord, the peace and joy showed in his conversation and actions to family and friends. 

Don was also a member of Olive Hill Masonic Lodge 629 and VFW Post 5438 of Vanceburg. Don was affiliated with Garvin Ridge Wesleyan Church. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters. 

Surviving are his wife, Barbara DeHart Gilliam of Olive Hill; three sons, Gregory Gilliam of Elizabethtown, Ky., 
Harrison B. Gilliam (Andrea) of Huntington, W.Va., and Matthew Gilliam of Ashland, Ky.; two daughters, Lori Reinheimer and Jeanie Bolin (Tracy), 
both of Eliza--bethtown two brothers, Wayne Gilliam of Vanceburg, Ky., and Charles Gilliam of Morehead, Ky.; 
his best friend, Charles Nathan Boyd of Mount Vernon, Ohio; four sisters, Merle Stone of Vanceburg, Willodean "Bea" Hilger of Camp Dix, Ky., 
Nina Davis of Morris, Ill., and Edna Raybourn of Olive Hill; five grandchildren, Andrew Reinheimer, Anna Marie Sanders, Darrel Bolin, 
Jeremy Bolin, and Hannah Bailey Gilliam; and two great-grandchildren, Dominick Sanders and Tyler Sanders. 

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill and officiated by the Rev. J.C. Bond. 

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today and anytime before the service Saturday at the funeral home. 

Masonic rites will be held at 5 p.m. today. A committal service will be scheduled at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Claire Hospice or Garvin Ridge Wesleyan Church building fund.
