Ruth Diamond 

1940-2004 

Ruth Evelyn Dickens Diamond, 63, of Grayson died Saturday afternoon, March 6, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland following a long illness. 

Mrs. Diamond was born Sept. 11, 1940, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Freddy and Ada Conley Dickens. 

Ruth was a clerk at the Carter County Health Department for 19 years and a partner with her late husband, Jimmy, 
in Diamond Gate and Trailer Sales near Grayson for nearly 30 years. She was a member of the Wilson Creek Freewill Baptist Church. 
Along with her late husband, she loved her community and friends and hosted many community gatherings where everyone was welcome 
regardless of age, color, religious or political ties. 

She is survived by a daughter, Crystal Diamond, at home; one son and daughter-in-law, James Steven and Elizabeth Alley Diamond of Grayson; 
two granddaughters, Shelby and Sarah-Jo Diamond of Grayson; and a sister, Freda Salley of Argillite. 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy" Diamond in 2002; a brother, 
Harold Dickens; and a sister, Jean Carson. 

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 9 at 1 p.m. at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by Kyle Burchett, minister. 
Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
