Bill Davis

Bill R. Davis, 77, of Lancaster, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at his residence after a short illness. 

He was born June 4, 1928, to the late Bert and Georgia Davis in Ashland, Ky. He had one brother, the late Jack Davis, and he lived his childhood life in Ashland/Olive Hill, Ky. After a short term in the U.S. Navy, he started a career in welding, working for the Limbach Company in Columbus. He became very successful in the welding industry and went on to become the owner/operator of Davis Heliarc Company located in Columbus. His company was the first company to introduce many new technologies and techniques in the welding, stainless steel fabrication, food companies, and stainless steel sanitary piping industry, doing business for numerous large corporations throughout the United States. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Christina; three daughters, Connie (Jeff) Fernow, Cathy (Chuck) Seymour, all of Lancaster and Carol Davis of New Lexington; three grandchildren, Tiffany (Adam) Murray, Brandon Moore, and Justin Fernow; three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Mykenzie, and Natalie Murray, all of Lancaster; and numerous friends. 

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel and Crematory, Lancaster, with the Rev. Branson J. Hawkes officiating. Caring Cremation to follow. Friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
