Blanche Barker 

1916-2003 

Blanche Mae Carroll Barker, 87, of Rattlesnake Ridge Road, Olive Hill, passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 9, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. 

Mrs. Barker was born Nov. 4, 1916, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of the late Robert and Annie Alexander Carroll. 

She had been a member of the Pleasant Hill United Baptist Church for 28 years and was a homemaker, who always thought of others before herself. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles Russell Barker; one son, Charles Barker Jr.; infant daughter, Wanda Gail Barker; son-in-law, Johnny Johnson; daughter-in-law, Ruby Tackett Barker; six brothers, Dewey Carroll, Arville Carroll, Jack Carroll, Logon Carroll, Chester Carroll, and George Carroll; half brother, Jess Thompson; and two sisters, Mable Perry and Gertude Jacobs. 

Blanche is survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, William Dewey and Della Barker of Shelby, Ohio, Ernest Ray and Sherry Barker of Mifflin, Ohio, Roger and Ruth Barker of Mansfield, Ohio, Timothy Barker of Greenup, Bobby and Vicky Barker of Olive Hill, and Don and Louise Barker of Grayson; nine daughters and sons-in-law, Mazie Madeline Barker, at home, Goldie and Gene Smith of Mansfield, Hazel and Ralph Parsons of Shelby, Viola Jaques, Linda and Bob Kazee, Ruby Jean and Raymond Sedmak, all of Mansfield, Janet and Glenn Seagraves of Plain City, Ohio, Vicki and Rick Stapleton, and Priscilla Faye and John Sparks of Grayson; 37 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, officiated by Eury Barker and J.D. Riggs. Burial will follow in the Carroll Cemetery on Rattlesnake Ridge. 

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today and until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
