Ruby G. Layne Born – 1976 DAYTON, OHIO - Ruby G. Layne, age 85, of Harrison Township, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, March 19, 2007, at her home. Ruby was born December 30, 1921 in Olive Hill, Kentucky to Elmer & Bertie (Crawford) Carpenter. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her husband of the past 54 years, Kenneth L. Layne; seven children and their spouses, Jimmy & Hazel Willard, Roger & Chris Willard, Mike & Cheryl Willard, Sue & Cork Chitwood, Faye & Tim Cayten, Allen & Betty Sue Layne, and Dottie Layne-Hammel; special friends, Michelle & Sarah Parsons; 27 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Walker and Phyllis Jackson; and by one brother, Glen Carpenter. Ruby was a member of the Pentecostal Apostolic Church for the past 20 years. She was a talented flower gardener and was very proud of her beautiful roses. She will be missed by her children who thought of her as not only a mother, but a best friend. The family will be receiving friends from 6 - 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Pentecostal Apostolic Church, 4818 Shadeland Drive, Dayton. Funeral services will be held at the church at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, with Pastor John Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Trotwood. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Ruby to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
