Ray Campbell - 1924-2007

Ray Campbell, age 82, of Webbville, Ky., passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 28, 2007, in Veterans Administration Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.

He was born June 26, 1924, in Martha, Ky., a son of the late Millard and Cora Adams Campbell.

Ray was a farmer and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He attended Pactolus Methodist Church, 
Smith Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and Dry Fork Community Church. He was a member of DAV and the American Legion and was a Kentucky colonel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Luther and Leroy Campbell; 
and three sisters, Faye Newland, Elsie Suttles and Pauline Suttles.

His survivors include his wife, Sylvia Hicks Campbell of Webbville; two sons, Carl Campbell of Berea, Ky., and Ronnie Campbell of Webbville; 
two stepdaughters, Brenda Stephens of Webbville and Barbara Howard of Ashland, Ky.; two stepsons, Eddie Kennedy and William Kennedy, both of Grayson, Ky.; 
a sister, Lillie Spillman of Flatwoods, Ky.; three grandchildren; and nine stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Smith Chapel Church by John Dean and Tom Riffe. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, March 2, 2007, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson and after noon Saturday at the church.
