Karen Buckler Fankell (1944-2006)

Karen 'Bo' Buckler Fankell, 61, of Grayson, Ky., passed away Thursday, July 6 in Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.

She was born Sept. 17, 1944, in Cleveland, a daughter of Ottis Buckler and the late Alma Lee Buckler.

Bo was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was also a retired sales clerk at Ruperts Department Store, a team captain for the Carter County Relay for Life and a member of First Baptist Church in Grayson.

She is survived by her father, Ottis Buckler; her husband, Sonny Fankell; her two daughters, Sonnie (Bill) Hayes of Grayson and Stacy (David) Sturgill of Sandy Hook, Ky.; her four grandchildren, Morgan, Makenzie and Maria Hayes and Nathaniel David Sturgill; her two sisters, Margaret McGuire of Mansfield, Ohio, and Phyllis Haight of Morehead, Ky.; and her life-time best friend, Jennifer Rogers of Olive Hill, Ky.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Karla Buckler.

Funeral services for Mrs. Fankell will be Monday, July 10, at 2 p.m. at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson. George Steele will officiate. 

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday, July 9 and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Cribbs Hill Cemetery.
