Leroy Bond

Born – 1927

MANSFIELD, OHIO - Leroy Bond, 80, resident of Plymouth-Springmill Rd. Shelby, died Monday, July 2, at his home 
following a two and a half year battle with cancer.

Born May 11, 1927 in Olive Hill, to Harrison R. and Mona Jane (Dehart) Bond, he had been a Shelby area resident since 1953. 
He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, from 1945-1947.

Formerly employed with Westinghouse of Mansfield, Ohio he then became a truck driver and member of the Teamster Local Union 40, 
retiring after driving for thirty years. He was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where he served as a trustee. 
Leroy graciously loved the Lord and was a faithful servant. He was honored to be a Kentucky Colonel. Feeling most at home being outdoors, 
he enjoyed gardening and traveling. Leroy was a very outgoing person who enjoyed entertaining and attending social events.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Anne L. (Johnson) Bond; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard (Tracy) Bond, Hoquiam, WV 
and Ray (Jane) Bond, Shiloh; one daughter, Rhonda J. Bond, Aberdeen, WV; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Laura, Joe and Megan Bond, Ron Stephens, 
Holly O’Brian, Jocelyn King and Johnathon Stevens; five great-grandchildren, Nicole and Jenna Bond, Will Stephens, Kevin and Kelsey Cariffe, 
Corbin King and Alexis O’Brian; one brother, Bobby Joe (Deloris) Bond, Bellville; five sisters, Ethel Parker, and Marian Lemasters both of Mansfield, 
Maxine Reynolds and Sonja (Hobert) Dean all of Olive Hill, and Lois (Herbie) Pritchard of Columbus; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, July 6 from the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Shelby 
with Reverends Tim Young and Joe Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Mansfield Memorial Park at a later date. 
Friends may call 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday from Barkdull Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial expressions may be made 
to Christian and Missionary Alliance Church or Med/Central Hospice.
