James Floyd “Talley” Blevins - 1920-2007

James Floyd “Talley” Blevins, 86, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday, June 25, 2007 in Community Hospice Care Center.

He was born Dec. 22, 1920, in Grahn, Ky., a son of the late Corbin LaFayett and Myrtle Stevens Blevins.

In addition, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray Blevins, Bob Blevins and Everett Blevins; and one sister, Lou Ella Barker.

He was retired from the maintenance department of Armco Steel. He was a life member of Eagles Club, American Legion and VFW.

He was a World War II veteran in the Army, serving as a private first class, with the 931 St. Signal Battalion in Central Pacific China Offensive. 
He was rewarded with many ribbons and awards.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine Y. Terry Blevins of Ashland; three sons, Donald Blevins of Raceland, Ky., Charles R. Moore of Ashland 
and James Barber of Lexington, Ky.; eight daughters, Sandy McDonald of Frankfort, Ky., Trish Sorrentino of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, 
Sharon Robinson of Greenup, Ky., Sandy Williams of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Louise Jones, Jane Nelson, Connie Davis and Laura Moore, all of Ashland; 
18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Beatrice Blevins Sparks and Faye Stafford, both of Olive Hill, Ky.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Jim Smedley and the Rev. Mike Rice. 
Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, KY 41102.
